Zero Carbon Britain
The team at Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT) have been very busy over the past few years creating two major reports under the project Zero Carbon Britain.
Achieving a society that is carbon neutral is, CAT argue, both very necessary and entirely achievable. In the report they go through each area of society to look where the energy savings and reductions in carbon emissions can be made to create a zero carbon society in Britain by 2030. This includes the built environment, transport, housing and land use.
Zero Carbon Britain 2030 - a new energy strategy makes some radical proposals for land use, which will be of interest to readers of this blog. Suggestions on reduction in emissions and increases in sequestration are put forward, as well as an analysis of the relative nutritional values of certain food types.
This is a major report and is very necessary reading. It can be downloaded for free here and the pages on land use are 189-231.
